Vein Through My Nipple

Farewell, Nicaragua

"With that completed the tasks we take for PCR. Now come the Post-PCR, "said Xavi. It is sometimes necessary to see how simple phrases can be loaded with so much feeling to the listener .. Thus ended our experience as PCRs in Nicaragua and now we can only refuxiarnos who gave us the bread molladiño D. Erika D. Beer-sheba in coffee or a glass of hot pinolillo Fran's mother and D. Ilda the sound of bachata that this time we will have to dance alone ... But sad though, we have seen loaded with great stories to share, only joy and energy to start the second part of this adventure: the post-PCR.

Regarding the recent activities of Jinotega, in recent weeks, and already in Phase III were the capabilities of Rational Use of Water in the communities of SASL and Los Horcones,

repartiuse material for building the coop from, built the coop from e. ..

chickens and SASL Los Horcones already have a place to sleep! The PCRS

imparts a small workshop for personal computing FIDER on PowerPoint presentations and how to create a blog and thus was born as the FIDER of Jinotega: fiderjinotega.blogspot.com

But how do we get per share, these days I'll publish their entries!

On 14 and 15 September was held the independence of Nicaragua from the English and, taking advantage of what was a holiday, Maruja returned to camp to spend a few days with the family of D. Beer-sheba and enjoy the quiet life in the countryside and beautiful people living in it. However, Roberto was the tedious job of passing the minutes of Internal Assessment FIDER we've had in a few weeks ago (very productive and very important issues that came out)

and enjoy the quiet life ... pulpería of the Juansito!

And once on Friday came the moment of farewell party for SASL, which as always was dancing (and drinking ...)

between rubber (hangover) and sadness, the next day was more and an abuse of our emotional health, many tears were shed by the faces of the families of SASL, and also by our ... And yet, we had some little bit of strength to make a second farewell FIDER's office, where we xuntarnos all and all around a few bottles of Flor de Cana sharing the last moments of another small "family".

On Sunday, Don Carlos invited him to a rich soup only. Do not be surprised by another "pelon" photo: Michael, voluntary Axunica in Granada, this past days acompañarnos decided to go engines warming (he says goodbye to Nicaragua next week).

Already despedímonos night with dinner and Juansito pulpería of Rachel.

But our ordeal would last even until the next day, despedirnos when touched Fran's time to catch the bus-Jinotega Managua.

And after going through central office FIDER to bring documentation of Phase II, the sun was falling in Nicaragua and he went down with us. Between airplanes and airports increasingly seemed more unreal all lived, and now there is a PCR in Zas and another in Madrid with hearts latendo carreiriño for some of SASL to Mojon.

Breakdown of Hygiene and Environmental Education in schools of SASL and Los Horcones

On 9 and 10 August in SASL and last week in Los Horcones, PCRs we conducted in schools of both communities about workshops on hygiene and environmental education which emerged as a proposal from the previous PCR, Lorraine, and was supported by his need for all staff in FIDER . Before, already enjoyed our stay in the communities to identify hygiene habits, especially the smaller ones, and observe customs, vocabulary, and all the data needed to design and adapt well to the reality of the studio community. We introduce the approach to environmental education as a crosscutting theme, thus giving continuity to workshop taught by Lorraine months ago and for which the student is linked to two workshops project.

Y entonces ... which consisted in the workshops?

because we started well, well lavándonos teeth to defend "Muela horrible," it's horrible because you have cavities and pique children's teeth, and it does not pass they had to defend itself cepillándose it well: from top to bottom, Chisa, flat, and also by the springs, circular motion ...

A "muela horrible" to hold a pair of boys washing that the incisors did not get along very well and had to frotarlle dentures reviewing so the rest of the classroom as we do to protect ourselves from disease as ugly as caries and have a mouth and healthy to gnaw Elotis corn, take a soup res warm and drink fresh and cold, without our teeth say "Oh ". Of course, a good cleaning just Brushing the tongue!

And then we did a little Teatrino, and boys and girls from 1st and 2nd degree ensináronnos PCRs as washing the body ...

learn to wash your hands and especially retrace at which point we have to wash! After using the latrines, before eating, after touching animals, before cooking ... And we a repasiño also when and how to wash the body, starting with the head and not to forget the ears!

What happens is that students from 3 to 6 degree of SASL was a little maiorciño to these tales of drama, so that part of hygiene and personal cleanliness tratámola otherwise:

colors groups a series of scenes of everyday life which then had to sort chronologically and tell the other comrades, through a little story, what did the characters in each scene ...

groups had more timid than others ...

but everyone did very well!

And then ... reached the chimbombas! SASL is reached also reached Los Horcones:

chimbombas Some came with surprise, so boom! Hatch todino all

came in and found many things: dangerous packaging, tires, plastics, monde banana, broken toys ... and we had to separate them: one for each side to the other ...

learned so that organic waste could be or Inorganic .

Even the little ones learned to sort the trash:

And the end result was this:

In Los Horcones at the end of the workshop, we took a farewell photo at the foot of the new school, which will be inaugurated on the 20th of September ...

In SASL, as we left a little while, the teacher ended the workshop Pastora deleitándonos a ranchera:

And as we still had a little more time, some impromptu game off Classroom ...

singing, dancing, and ensuciámonos despedímonos school Chein sludge, but pasámolo "Tuani, Tuan!"

Rich Burton - Car-x - Joliet, Il

Girão Exchange Him Quebracho

The PCRs were unable to attend the first such tour by the arid lands of Esteli to be on vacation, but the second. Yet we have photographic documentation of that due to the presence of a special guest of the Juancito pulpería.

Jinotega We left with the first light and we were grabbing beneficiary @ s on SASL and the Connection of Los Horcones. As always, coaches Don Carlos and Don Silvio, go through the list to the people of their respective monitoring groups:

During the long journey by road, Don Carlos, Don Silvio, Xavi Hernandez and Roberto Carlos were platicar enthusiastically with some of our Project, and coordinator Reynaldo Sun agardábanos in Estelí.

Finally we come to the community of El Quebracho, where we were greeted by Edwin and Celestino. Edwin is the coach of FIDER Esteli, the other regional offices of our counter-party, where he worked Rey Sun for years, so the treatment was very friendly. Celestino is the producer who was willing to teach, with much loose, their properties and the results of their work and collaboration with FIDER:

From the house of D. Celestine to the field, the caminata fíxosenos dilated until the views of Estelí currencies ...

... and finally reached the comfortable shade of a cedar. Ali began to appreciate the explanations of Archbishop Celestino effort to transform some hills stony dry weather, in a fertile succession of pasture, basic grains and vegetables:

But this effort should be accompanied by a sustainable design, based on:

- Barriers dead (such as dikes made with abundant stone that renounced any of our manufacturers) to prevent the escape of moisture and soil downhill.

- Barriers to live Zacate or Taiwan.

- reforestation, as the hedges that make up these beautiful prendones of black Madero.

assistance recipient jinotegana despegaba not the ear of the words of Don Celestino, and participation was constant, and is the 'viejito' if you earn our trust with their expense, friendliness and knowledge.

may be the finding that there was good production with low inputs obtained in a hostile environment, a little more to convince the families benefiting from the microcunca SASL, the virtues of reforestation, use of organic fertilizers, no burning, and other good practices. Mainly the young.

There parted with a beautiful tale of the Technical Director for Nicaragua Group Agro FHS, Xavi, which from here take the opportunity to congratulate the imminent start of his career paid in the world of cooperation, in Jinotega, the his adoptive land. The real story is much in demand, spoke of idolatry that has a Peruvian people by the great desert cliffs, as the stones of El Quebracho, reduce the course of the waters forming a sort of oasis around.

Girão Exchange Naranjo and La Mancotal

We had some Ganino pecerreantes to participate in tours of performing exchange FIDER, Galicia and the ESF-80 families benefiting from the project that formulated around the river SASL. And after closer ties with other cooperation projects, preparing the logistics to distribute invitations for accuracy and contract carriage ... we were there!

The first of these two tours cafetaleiras, forty invited each one was characterized by the difficulties that had the route. Despite the power of typical bus mechanics and use of chains, a Pasino went back and two forward because of mud, stones and streams.

But finally we arrived at La Naranjo, where we begin to meet the explanations of producers, father and son, and of Augustus and Franklin, technical project that funds the USDA in seven northern counties.

then warned that the high transparency that surrounds this mountainous area throughout the year enabled us to maintain a low level of shade in Guinea. Also take note of how took the opportunity to sow maize (and later frijol and Canavalia) in furrows parallel to the small newly planted coffee.

Benefit wet coffee

This was an example of intensive cultivation of coffee, high-tech and high-input. Our parish met with interest and thought put into the upcoming planting nurseries that take months Agarimo.

both technical producers are proud of coffee production, the Nicaraguan presumed to be the second best in the world (after Colombia), and not in escatiman advice: Caiado the annual control pests, pepena, pruning, deshijada, ground cover ...

also warns that the random use of fertilizers may be a waste of time and dollars if it does not know the characteristics of their land, which recommended investment in soil analysis. And the use of non-targeted herbicides such as glyphosate can poison our plant.

After refrixerio expected to close in the first scale that contains 10,000 almácigo Template coffee that had never felt so observed:

The second stop on deixábanos Mancotal, closer Lake Apana, a cooperative that grows coffee organic. Far had been the chemical smell. Our producers and production companies showed puzzled over that unconventional type of cultivation, with whom they are familiar. Thus began to forge the collective comparative analysis of both systems, a debate that lasted the rest of the journey. The proposed contrast between conventional and organic chemical takes effect:

The grandchildren of the owner of this land had a careful forest shade in different heights for coffee, and the floor was full of organic fertilizer. They recognized that the production was lower than conventional, but they were very pleased por outra banda gastaban ben pouco en insumos.

Between 15 and 20) than the conventional ones, and even we started careful not to stain anything, will not be an inspection remove the seal that allows our hosts successfully commercialize this organic Fairtrade coffee.

Finally, after detallarnos costs and revenues to give them organic coffee, members of the Cooperative Agricultural Mancotal amosáronnos their communal house, where he deepened the virtues of working together and export the good price, as the case of carrying out social work in their community:

Now the ball is on the roof the inhabitants of the river microcunca Sasl: some will be able to form cooperative agriculture (organic or not) the new cafetaleiros of SASL and Los Horcones?

another order of things, at the end of the day delivered the kind of guides tailored to the capabilities gender communities. And the evening was coming to the houses and the leaves went, and the drawings were taking color, while apagaba day among the coffee-scented dreams.
